Influence Retreat was inspiring

The second Influence retreat has just finished and was a great sucess

Leaders and visionaries got together and worshiped, share inspiring stories from the front line and heard the speakers below lecturing on their disciplines. Please check out the podcasts at the bottom of the page.

Speaking was.....

Theme: Whole Life Discipleship

Jason Gardner is a lecturer in youth discipleship at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity.

Theme: Local Authorities & Holistic Transformation

Sim Dendy is part of the leadership team of New Community based in Southampton, UK. He has developed a number of successful community action projects in partnership with the Church and statutory bodies in the areas of Health, Education and Social Care.

Theme: Innovative Missional Engagement with Children

Jenny Whittaker is Head of Children’s Work for Valley CIDS and has set up numerous Christian after school and lunch time clubs in which the Christian faith is explored.

Theme: Church on the Edge

Chris Stoddard is the Director of RUN, a network of about 750 churches who are intentional about reaching people for Christ in today’s culture. He helps churches and their leaders become more effective in mission.

Theme: A New Era of Christian Innovation

Andy Frost is Director of SJI, a missional charity that is passionate about presenting Christ in today's cultural context. He leads London's Pentecost Festival, has written several books and speaks at a wide variety of events.

Theme: Sex, Spirit and the Internet

Tim Knight believes that internet pornography poses a serious threat to spiritual and emotional health. He believes the Church can provide a relevant, challenging and informed voice. He has worked as a GP with a special interest in addiction for six years and before that in addiction psychiatry.

Theme: Motivating Communities for Change

Jo Frost works as a communications consultant for international NGOs advising on and managing environmental and human rights campaigns. Jo also is part of the leadership team for be church, as well as part of the core faculty for the Youth Mission and Ministry diploma at Cliff College.

Aims:

Influence is aimed at Church leadership (ranging from ministerial employees to those involved as volunteers or elders).

To hear from pioneers at the cutting edge (of church and secular leadership) and to provide space to unpack how some of these theories/practices relate to the delegate’s personal context
