Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT DO I NEED TO PAY FOR?
FRESH gives you £600 worth of training for just  £125. A £25 deposit must be sent with your application form.  After that, all you need to pay for is your travel to and from each weekend and pay the remaining £100 before weekend 1.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE £25 DEPOSIT?
The £25 cheque is cashed when you are accepted onto the course (or returned to you if not). This goes towards covering some of the admin costs of the course.

DO I NEED TO ATTEND ALL 3 WEEKENDS?
Yes. This is part of your commitment to FRESH and your leadership development. We are sympathetic of extenuating circumstances but otherwise we expect to see everyone enjoying and attending every weekend as you will be involved in and contributing to individual and team work throughout the weekends. As spaces are limited, anyone unable to attend is disallowing another eager individual to attend in your place.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I APPLY?
After applying, we will give you a call between June-September 2012 to find out more about you and answer any questions you might have. We then check your references and let you know whether or not your application has been successful. You will get a FRESH acceptance pack through the post.

WHAT IS IN THE FRESH ACCEPTANCE PACK?
This will have a letter confirming your place on the course, details about the mentoring and summer opportunities, timings for each weekend so that you can book trains etc and a contract that outlines our commitment to you (to provide excellent leadership training) and your commitment to FRESH (to take part in each weekend and the opportunities given. You will also be given your first book to get you ready for the first weekend.

WHAT DO WE STUDY AT EACH WEEKEND?
Each weekend is focused on leadership. Weekend 1 looks at What is a leader? How can we make sure we’re focusing on the gospel and living it out in our lives and leadership. Weekend 2 looks at developing our strengths and gifts, evangelism and leadership, and discerning what God wants us to be doing in our area / school / university. Weekend 3 looks at commitment, responsibility, intimacy with God and gives you an opportunity in teams to pitch ideas for funding. Each weekend we learn loads through interactive activities and teaching, from team building skills and motivational skills to communicating well and learning from other young people around the UK.

WHERE DO WE STAY FOR EACH WEEKEND?
The first two weekends of each path will be staying on church floors, so pack your sleeping bags, air beds and pillows. To make up for the floors, the third weekend is at an activity centre with beds and en-suites!

WHERE IS THE ACTIVITY WEEKEND? WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL WE DO?
The activity centre is being booked at the moment. It will be one of the Kent centers. We will be doing loads of fun team work and problem solving activities, from mountain boarding, to archery and ropes courses!

ARE THERE ANY PLACES LEFT ON FRESH?
There are indeed places available, but applications are coming in quickly and we will begin considering each applicant from the day the form arrives in the post. Please ensure your application is complete by 31st July 2012 as we review applications and allocate places on a rolling basis.

WHO PAYS FOR THE REST OF THE FRESH JOURNEY COSTS?
We do not want money to be a deterrent for young people. FRESH costs a total of £600 per person, £525 of that amount is funded by grants and individuals who passionately believe in young people and raising up the leaders of today. This is one of the reasons why we have such a large application process, we accept people onto FRESH based on the strength of their application and commitment, not according to their ability to self fund.

WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS FOR DROPPING OUT OF FRESH WITHOUT EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES?
If a delegate decides to drop out of the course after having accepted the place we offer, we will ask the delegate to contribute to the cost of their decision. Each place is fully funded and as a result anyone who doesn’t complete the course would have to pay the full price for each weekend they miss.
